This policy explains what information The Reluctant Frugalist (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit reluctantfrugalist.com, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Usage and device data. Pages viewed, referring site, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device type. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies described below.
- Comments. If you leave a comment, we store your name, email address, comment text, IP address and browser user agent to display the comment and filter spam.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your address and message to reply.
- Calculator inputs. Figures you enter into our calculators are sent to our server only to compute your results and are not stored for visitors who are not logged in. Some tools keep your inputs in your browser’s local storage so they are there when you return; clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
- Advertising. Ads on this site are served by Ezoic and its advertising partners, which may use cookies and similar identifiers to show and measure ads, including ads based on your interests where permitted. See Ezoic’s privacy policy.
- Affiliate links. Some links are affiliate links, including through the Awin network. When you click one, the retailer or network may set a cookie to record that the visit came from us. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

How we use information
To run and secure the site, understand what readers find useful, show advertising that funds the site, respond to messages, and moderate comments. We do not sell your personal information for money.
Service providers
The site is hosted by a web hosting provider and delivered through Cloudflare, which processes traffic to protect and speed up the site. Analytics, advertising and affiliate partners listed above receive the data described in this policy.
Retention
Comments are kept while they remain published. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to opt out of targeted advertising. Children
This site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
